Asthma Self-Management
In this self-care asthma management program for children and adults, participants will learn about asthma triggers, medications, peak flow meter monitoring and warning signs requiring medical care.
Back Care/Fitness and Exercise Class
Discover health hazards related to inactivity, elements of fitness, types of fitness programs, and goals and rewards of activity as they relate to back care. Sponsored by California Physical Therapy Providers.
Cholesterol Class
This class is designed to help you lower your risk of heart disease. Topics include risk factors of heart disease, types of fat, good vs. bad cholesterol, label reading and exercise.
Diabetes Care Program/Diabetes Management Class
This program includes one initial three-hour class and three additional two-hour sessions designed to help patients and their families increase their self-management of diabetes mellitus. Class offered in both English and Spanish.
Freedom From Smoking Class
Whether you are using the nicotine patch or going cold turkey, a behavior modification program will improve your success. Topics include triggers, coping skills, alternative behaviors and stress management. Co-sponsored by the American Lung Association. Fee: $80 per person.
Heart Failure Recovery
Learn to understand the causes, symptoms and treatment of heart failure that will help you carry on with your normal activities. Instruction given by Registered Nurse and Registered Dietitian.
Stress Management Class
Design a personal stress management plan. Topics include relaxation techniques, self-assessment and physiological effects of stress.
Weight-Loss Information Session
An informal support group to discuss your progress on healthy lifestyle changes to lose weight and keep it off.
Weight-Management With Food Class
Prerequisite is Weight-Loss Information Session. This eight-week class teaches you how to eat and exercise for good health and to lose weight while eating 1,000+ calories daily. Topics include label reading, snacking, eating out and exercise. Fee: $80 per person.
