Company History

Dr. Jack Hagadorn and Dr. Reinhard Marthen, along with Administrator Jack Hammett, founded Bristol Park Medical Group in 1961. Their goal was to provide quality, patient-focused healthcare to the rapidly growing Costa Mesa area in Orange County, California.

As industry and population growth moved in where the orange groves once dominated, Bristol Park Medical Group expanded to keep up with the demand.

The group opened its first "satellite" office in Irvine in 1981, officially kicking off an era of expansion. Over the course of the next two decades, Bristol Park Medical Group would grow to 11 medical offices, 90 primary care physicians and physician assistants, and 600+ employees to support the clinical and business operations.

Always striving to be on the leading edge, the physicians of Bristol Park Medical Group adopted many then-radical concepts that have since become common medical practice. The group early on adapted to the concept of managed healthcare, signing its first HMO contract in 1979. It was also one of the first groups in the area to integrate physician assistants into its practice, helping increase patients' access to a new class of medical professionals. In 1988, Bristol Park once again ventured in a new way, opening a new office in Fountain Valley that included a Walk-In Center available to any patient within the Bristol Park Medical Group network.

In 1996, Bristol Park Medical Group affiliated with a large hospital network in Orange County, but returned to independence in 2001. The group remains dedicated to its mission of providing quality, patient-focused healthcare to the families of Orange County, with an eye toward the future.
